KidsRights reaches out to young ‘changemakers’ to help affect their futures

KidsRights, the global children’s rights advocate, is using ‘edutainment’ to try and help young children actively help to change their own futures.

Its successful State of Youth programme already works with 12-24 year olds to get them involved as ‘changemakers’ in their communities, by identifying issues and working towards solutions.

Now this leading children’s rights champion is extending that opportunity to children aged 6-12 years. The State of Youth Kids platform, created with the help of retailer H&M, hopes to empower the youngest members of society to help create the futures they deserve.

KidsRights says it ‘recognises their potential, combining age-appropriate and engaging children’s rights education with offline action challenges, empowering children to become changemakers in their communities and beyond’.

It will also ‘support the nurturing of responsible, compassionate individuals who genuinely value and take action to protect the rights of themselves and others, encouraging children to express themselves, participate in decisions affecting them, and seek to create the change they wish to see in the world’.

‘We are reaching out to as many kids as possible’

Marc Dullaert, founder and chairman of KidsRights Foundation, said: “Both KidsRights and H&M believe that children have the right to participate and can move the world in a positive way, improving children’s rights, at home, at school, in their community. In our collaboration we are reaching out to as many kids as possible around the globe, to empower them as future Changemakers”,

Based in The Netherlands, KidsRights is an international non-governmental organisation that strives for a world where all children have access to their rights and are enabled to realise the great potential they carry within them. KidsRights sees children as changemakers with the power to move the world, and facilitates in voicing their opinions and taking action in order to bring about change.

It supports children by commanding global attention for the realisation of children’s rights and acts as a catalyst to ignite change, together with children and youth. KidsRights is the founder of the prestigious International Children’s Peace Prize, the world’s first borderless state State of Youth and the organisation behind the first and only global annual KidsRights Index.
