Experts in urban planning, play, education and children’s rights will be sharing their experiences at our forthcoming Child in the City International Seminar.

We hope to welcome as many of you as possible to the city of Cascais in Portugal, which is hosting this important event from 19-20 May.

How can children be heard to make their rights mainstream in local policy planning? How can we deal with the impact of the corona pandemic on their everyday life and play? What can we do to make children and young people more aware of their rights?

These are the key questions that we look forward to discussing with researchers, academics and child advocates from all over the world, through a series of dynamic keynote and interactive parallel sessions.

Among those already lined up to speak on a specialist topic are:

  • Children’s rights in education and child care: Manuel Jacinto Sarmento, Associate Professor of Aggregation at the University of Minho, Portugal
  • Children’s rights in urban planning: Daniella Ben-Attar, Israel Representative, Bernard van Leer Foundation, Israel
  • Corona and its effect on children’s everyday life and play: Carlos Neto, Professor at the Faculty of Human Kinetics, University of Lisbon, Portugal
  • Participation and the education of children’s rights: Regula Flisch, Head of the Centre for Executive at the University of AS of Eastern Switzerland
