The 18th European Week of Regions and Cities – follow it live
Regional and city policies, ranging from family housing to climate action, will be the focus of one of Europe’s biggest annual forums over the coming weeks.
The continuing pandemic means that, for the first time, the annual European Week of Regions and Cities is being held solely online, from 5-22 October.
‘Promoting cooperation and networking’
This major European event on regional policy brings together city leaders and other stakeholders to highlight and share good practice which demonstrates ‘cohesive policies’ across the European Union. Dozens of presentations and workshops are being held online, promoting a co-operation and networking between regions and cities,
The three themes, with key dates, for this year are:
- Empowering Citizens – 5-11 October: The opening week’s sessions include Cities and regions building homes for life, Youth policy at the local level and Rocking and Communcating: Europe is Young!
- Cohesion and Cooperation – 12-16 October: Sessions include: Empowering Europe’s vulnerable youth and Launch of the Quality of life in European cities report 2020
- Green Europe – 19-22 October: Sessions include: Driving Climate Action in Cities and Sustainable infrastructure for Europe.
Through these and many other sessions, policymakers will be aiming to show how long-term and sustainable policies and projects can have a far-reaching effect on the future of Europe’s citizens – not least the children and young people who will be the policymakers of tomorrow.
