World Urban Park webinar today on the benefits of outdoor play webinar

Inspiring ideas for children’s play is the theme of a free webinar today, Wednesday 6 May, organised by the open spaces campaigning body, World Urban Parks.

The New Zealand-based organisation’s Children Play and Nature Standing Committee is behind the event, which aims to gauge innovative ideas of ‘hope and resilience in these extraordinary times’.

World Urban Parks represents what it calls the ‘vibrant urban parks, open space and recreation sector’, and actively campaigns to promote and support the provision, effective management and use of urban parks and recreational spaces as an ‘integral contribution to healthy communities’ connected to the natural world.

‘Hope and resilience in extraordinary times’

The aims of the webinar are to:

  • Collectively develop rapid responses to the current pandemic crisis to reach children and families with ideas for play within a restricted home environment and local neighbourhood
  • Refresh our knowledge on the benefits of being in nature for our health and wellbeing
  • Understand how play and nature can directly improve our ability to respond and recover during this pandemic

Anyone is free to join in the webinar via the Zoom platform, which takes place at 1600 hours Eastern Time (US and Canada), which is 2200 Central European Time.
