Child Poverty in Western Cities – ‘an inspiring event’

‘A great and fruitful experience’ – just one of the overwhelmingly positive comments from visitors to the Child Poverty in Western Cities seminar held in Leeds.

Diverse, enlightening and thought-provoking presentations over the two days gave delegates some great ideas for looking at alternative, globally-sourced approaches to potential solutions for tackling child poverty in the cities of the west.

‘Proud to have brought such a group together’

Marieke Bouman, Event Manager on behalf of organisers the Child in the City Foundation, said: “We had interesting presentations from an academic point of view, as well as a practical one. We are very proud to have brought together such an interdisciplinary group of professionals from 15 different countries on this very important topic.”

Some of those who helped organise the event or gave presentations have been using social media to reflect on their experiences of Leeds 2019. They include Amelia Smith of Buttle UK, Leeds Relational Practice Centre, Play Scotland, the Dutch city of Hoogeveen, and the Dublin-based Childhood Development Initiative.

Organisers are already busy planning for the next Child in the City World Conference series, to be held in Dublin in September 2020. Click here for more information.
